The amount of VAT refunded to citizens last year has been announced
In 2025, a total of AZN 191 million 98.9 thousand in value-added tax (VAT) paid by individual consumers was refunded in Azerbaijan. The refunds covered VAT paid on goods purchased from retail trade or catering businesses (excluding oil and gas products, automobiles, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products), as well as services related to theatrical performances, film screenings, museum visits, symphony orchestra concerts, and medical services provided by healthcare institutions and individuals engaged in private medical practice.
Startup.az reports, citing the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy, that last year the amount of VAT refunded from the state budget under the “tax free” mechanism for goods purchased by foreign citizens for personal consumption within the country amounted to AZN 10 million 533.3 thousand.
