Today, the opening ceremony of the “FinTech Lab” was held at Azerbaijan Technical University in partnership with the Azerbaijan Fintech Association (AzFina).

According to Startup.az, the event was attended by AzTU Rector Vilayat Valiyev, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan Vusal Khalilov, department head Khayaladdin Taghiyev, Chairman of the Board of AzFina Edgar Abdullayev, and university representatives.

It was noted that the FinTech Lab aims to provide students with practical knowledge in financial technologies, train qualified specialists needed in the fintech market, implement joint projects with payment and electronic money institutions, and support the enhancement of financial literacy in the country.

Vilayat Valiyev highly appreciated the cooperation with AzFina, emphasizing that this partnership will contribute to strengthening university-industry collaboration and preparing specialists aligned with labor market demands.

Vusal Khalilov expressed his satisfaction with participating in the event as a regulator in the financial technology sector. He provided insights into the current state and innovations in fintech in Azerbaijan, noting that, as highlighted during the meeting chaired by Ilham Aliyev on February 11, the development of digitalization and artificial intelligence has been identified as a priority, which is also significant for the fintech sector. He added that the newly established laboratory will contribute to both specialist training and the expansion of financial literacy, thereby enhancing the sector’s sustainability.

Khayaladdin Taghiyev stated that training specialists in line with the Central Bank’s financial literacy strategy within this laboratory will help reduce the existing кадров shortage in the fintech sector.

Edgar Abdullayev, in turn, expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with AzTU and подчеркнул the importance of the laboratory in fostering students’ development into professional specialists.
