Farid Osmanov: Venture Financing and Crowdfunding Create New Opportunities for Startups
Reforms implemented in Azerbaijan in the fields of venture capital and startup financing are creating new funding opportunities for innovative companies.
Startup.az reports that Farid Osmanov, Chairman of the Board of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA), made the remarks during the “Plug and Play × IDDA – Industry Challenge” innovation workshop held in Baku on September 2.
The IDDA Chairman said that a modern legal framework for venture capital and startup financing has recently been established. Within this framework, mechanisms such as venture capital funds, professional and accredited investors, convertible notes, SAFE agreements, and employee stock ownership plans are regulated.
F. Osmanov noted that the adoption of the Law “On Crowdfunding” has also created a legal basis for startups and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises to access alternative sources of financing.
“These reforms are aimed at increasing financing opportunities for entrepreneurs, strengthening investor confidence, and making Azerbaijan’s innovation ecosystem more attractive to both local and international capital,” he said.
